Point Pivot+

The Point Pivot+ is a heavy-duty, mechanical addition designed to provide additional degrees of freedom to the Point Thumb. For individuals with significant thumb loss near the carpometacarpal (CMC) level, this allows the Point Thumb to move from an oppositional to a lateral position, while also enabling rotation within the flexion/extension plane. Together, these movements allow users to achieve a greater number of functional hand grasps and improved grasp, pinch, and object control.

Used in place of the standard Point Thumb mounting kit, the expanded adjustability of the Point Pivot+ helps users position their prosthetic thumb for a wider range of daily activities. Built from titanium and stainless steel, the Point Pivot+ combines robust construction with a lightweight profile for dependable everyday use.

  • Can be mounted in the neutral, pre-flexed, or pre-extended positions
  • 19 locking levels of adduction/abduction
  • 150 lb (68 kg) load capacity
  • Robust rotation mechanism with 3 locking positions
  • The only mechanical dynamic mounting solution for adduction/abduction and rotation

Used in place of the standard mounting system for the Point Thumb, the Point Pivot+ provides many functional benefits to the patient. It allows the Point Thumb to be moved from an oppositional position to a lateral position. Additionally, it enables rotation of the plane that the Point Thumb flexes and extends in, allowing for a greater number of achievable hand grasps.

The Point Pivot+ is made of titanium and stainless steel, and comes with all necessary hardware for integration into a prosthetic socket. A semi-hollow titanium construction ensures a high strength-to-weight ratio. The Point Pivot+ designed for people who have near carpometacarpal (CMC) level amputations of the thumb.

The Point Pivot+ and the Point Thumb (and their associated mounting kits) are sold separately.

To operate the Point Pivot+, the user has two different modes of operation to choose from: adduction/abduction and rotation.

Adduction/Abduction: User moves the Point Pivot+ into one of 19 locking positions by pressing the paddle opposite the desired direction of motion and pushing the carriage. When the paddle is released, the device will automatically lock into place.

Rotation: User rotates the Point Pivot+ by applying a downward force and rotating the attached digit into one of three locking positions. When the digit is released, the device will automatically lock into place.

Mounting Kit

The Point Pivot+ mounting kit is a separately purchased, required component, in order to align and integrate the Point Pivot+ into a prosthesis and retain the respectively published load rating.

Each Point Pivot+ fitting requires 2 mounting brackets. Lamination spacer and mounting hardware included.

Point Pivot

The Point Pivot is a rotatable mounting system designed to provide an additional degree of freedom to the Point Thumb. For individuals with thumb amputations slightly proximal to the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint, it allows the prosthetic thumb to be repositioned into different functional positions. This added mobility improves reach, grasp, and object positioning throughout daily activities.

Used in place of the standard Point Thumb mounting kit, the Point Pivot is compatible with the Point Thumb. Designed for individuals who need greater adjustability but are not candidates for the Point Pivot+, it delivers enhanced thumb mobility to function across a wider range of daily tasks.

  • Adds rotational positioning to the Point Thumb
  • 18 positions of rotation of the flexion/extension plane
  • 150 lb (68 kg) load capacity
  • Designed for higher-level MCP joint thumb amputations
  • Replaces the standard Point Thumb mounting kit
  • Built from titanium and stainless steel, combines robust construction with a lightweight profile for dependable everyday use
  • Compatible with Point Thumb
  • Comes in two configurations: Compact and Extended
  • By default, the Point Pivot is provided in the Compact configuration, which is designed for integration with new sockets; the Extended configuration can be provided upon request and is directly compatible with existing sockets where a Point Thumb was previously mounted
  • Sold separately from the Point Thumb and associated mounting kits
